Go Ahead, Unfriend Me.

hate

The emotions we hold in our body speak to our brains and tell it to start producing life-affirming or life-denying chemistry. That chemistry impacts all our organs and floods our body. Positive emotions cause life-enhancing chemistry to be released and negative emotions cause the release of life-denying chemistry.  Fear, anger and hate are some of the most negative emotions we feel while love and compassion are the most powerful, positive emotions.

We are killing ourselves by defining our lives with hate.

I will talk with anyone but I will not allow hate into my conversations or my space. I am in control of me and I choose to hold onto love with all my being. Continue reading

Katelyn Nicole Davis (Dolly)

katelyn-nicole-davis-suicide

Katelyn Nicole Davis (Dolly) 12 years old. She shared her heart with us, wanting some reassurance, and we showed her the ugliest part of being human – that part within humans, where they believe that everything is a competition and that they can only win by making sure someone else loses.

How does a 12-year-old make the decision to end her life and do so, exiting out of it with a string of apologies for letting everyone down?  What did we expect from her?  How could her life come and go and seem to mean so little to this world?  Such a beautiful, sweet girl.  Look at her.  How fitting is her nickname of “Dolly?”  Most of us will feel terrible about this little girl committing suicide and we will look at the actual people who did this to her in a “them” and “me” type of lens, but we all contributed to this and the many other cases of bullying that goes on everywhere. Pretty Sure the Water is Boiling.

boiling

I am not sure why there are still so many people on this planet earth who are completely unaware of how much their day to day lives are manipulated by people with agendas that have nothing to do with looking out for our welfare.

Our minds have been systematically lulled into a state of comatose until we are nothing more than mere puppets, moving with each tug on our strings to a perfectly choreographed dance. The dance is about us doing exactly what they want us to until we have moved so far down a dark and bumpy road that we can never make our way back.

Someone bottled water and started to sell it. At first, it was all about appearing chic, a new accessory to flaunt around, like a designer bag, proving you were truly one of the beautiful people. People were recreating scenes from “The Princess and the Pea,” when they ordered water with fancy names in restaurants as if their constitutions were too delicate to drink mere tap water. Then they started carrying it around with them and now, everyone buys water when they can merely turn on the tap and get a drink and fill their own bottle. Continue reading

Where Has All The Balance Gone?

done

Balance.

Is that even possible anymore?

Lately, my world has been coloured in a heavy flurry of conversation about copyright issues for artists etc online. The upshot is the usage of people’s work, for Pinterest, colouring pages, etc. You have the people who pin and try to give credit to the artist which is not always easy to do, and then the ones that use the pictures in the same way and maybe don’t. You have a huge group of people who are happy to do that and share with one another, recognizing that no-one is using them for financial gain, only for their own personal use. Of course, there are always people who go too far and do things like buy a colouring book and put up the pictures for people to copy and use without having to pay for the colouring book like they did. These are the “bad guys” – all the people mentioned above are put in this group.

Then you have the artists and the internet monitors. I am saying the artists because many of the monitors claim to be artists but there are not a lot of artists that I hear from regarding this, however, they may not have the time to be in the same arena’s I am in. The monitors want everyone to know what they are doing is a crime, they passionately explain why it is a crime and try to protect the rights and the livelihoods of the artists. They want everyone to stop what they are doing and pay for everything they use OR get permission directly from the artist to colour their pictures. They are the “good guys.” They want to force the bad guys into compliance, or enact the full measure of the law on them. Continue reading

Let’s be Offended

Noam Chomsky

Isn’t that the truth … how many people take their freedom of speech to mean they get to talk and say whatever they want but the minute someone opens their mouth and says something that contradicts or is in opposition to what they say – they turn it to “you have offended me.”

on this page

They use the freedom of speech as a two edged sword to benefit themselves.  THEY have a right to express their opinions on anything but when someone else with a different point of view tries to do the same, then they are not also exercising their freedom of speech – they are accused to trying to take away the other persons freedom of speech. Grammar Police, The WORST Kind of Trolls

grammar police

The beauty of grammar is that you get to use it. You can write everything perfectly and impress the shit out of people who care about that thing. You can enter grammar competitions and win a trophy for being the best grammar person ever. You can decorate your home in grammatically correct needlepoint and cross stitch. You can have your own website or blog where everything is grammatically perfect. You can get a job where people will pay you to fix their grammar and may even like that you do it and appreciate you for it. You can work with children who are learning grammar and help them to learn the right way to do it. But note that these will not be all children or all people, just those who actually want to learn how to do it right AND who think they can work with you because your approach is worth paying for.

But you don’t get to police the world or tell other people what they should or should not be writing. Continue reading

Faking Facebook, Faking Life

I saw this video this morning and had to comment.

Social media has become this world where we are virtually attending our high school reunions, except on a much grander scale.  Yet instead of  just one night where we create an illusion to “in your face” to all who scoffed at us or treated us bad in high school, we have every day.  We get to filter what people see and to a large extent, what they think.  Our “profile page” on any available media, becomes this perfect view of who we are and perhaps, more than anything else, it is a sad reflection on our own opinion of ourselves.  We can’t allow ourselves to just be us, we have to present what we think will make others “like” us.
